Joel Richards

Joel Richards is a seasoned software engineering professional with extensive experience in embedded systems and firmware development. Currently serving as the Sr. Software Engineering Lead at Sierra Space since April 2024, Joel previously held positions as Customer Firmware Lead at Solidigm from April 2022 to April 2024, and as Principal Software Engineer at Ball Aerospace from April 2018 to April 2022, focusing on embedded and server systems. Earlier roles include Software Engineer at Particle Measuring Systems and Electrical Engineer at B/E Aerospace and Hughes Network Systems, where Joel was involved in various aspects of engineering including firmware development, DO-178B engineering process, and microwave CAD modeling. Joel holds an MBA from the University of Colorado Boulder and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech.
