Betsy Gilligan

Betsy Gilligan serves as the Assistant Vice President and Assistant General Counsel for Financial Services Operations at SIFMA since May 2022. Prior to this role, Betsy worked at Deloitte as a Senior Regulatory Analyst from February 2018 to April 2022 and as a Senior Associate in Lobbying/Political Compliance at EY from December 2015 to February 2018. Betsy began a career in compliance at Rutgers University as a Compliance Associate and served as Assistant General Counsel at Essex County College, actively participating in the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA). Betsy's experience also includes a significant role at the United States Senate SAA as an Assistant to the President and Senior Outreach Coordinator, where responsibilities encompassed community engagement and managing the Newark Office Internship program. Betsy holds a Juris Doctor degree from Seton Hall University School of Law and a Master’s degree in International Relations from The John C. Whitehead School of Diplomacy and International Relations at Seton Hall University, complemented by a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Economics, and Business from Saint Joseph's University.
