Charlie McArthur

Charlie McArthur has over fifteen years of experience in product development, manufacturing, and industrial design. In 2005, they began their career as a Web/UX Designer and Project Manager for Brickhouse Direct, where they were responsible for front-end UX design and coding for sites and online stores for clients in the entertainment industry. In 2008, they moved to APICS as a Web Marketing Manager. In 2011, they joined Koz Susani Design as an Industrial Designer. From 2013 to 2017, they worked at 511 Capital, first as a Senior Industrial Designer and then as the Director of Industrial Design. During this time, they managed a team of designers and engineers, guided them through the full process of product development, and designed and developed products for new gaming gear and instrument case brands. In 2017, they co-founded Formal Dept., where they developed a brand that sold a line of bags and cases for creative life plus ceramics and stationery items. From 2019 to 2022, they worked at Goodwell Co. as the Head of Product Development and COO, where they led product development and vendor selection for the world's first all-mechanical, battery-free powered toothbrush. Charlie also took over many operational duties, including working with the founder to raise $1.1M in VC funding, build projections, model cash flow, and analyze retail and partnership opportunities. Currently, Charlie is working at Sigma Worldwide LLC as the Product Development Director, where they partner with innovative companies of all sizes to deliver best-in-class manufacturing, engineering and design solutions in consumer electronics, point of sale, and health & wellness accessories.

Charlie McArthur obtained their Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Purdue University Daniels School of Business between 2001 and 2005. Charlie then went on to receive their Master of Design in Industrial Design from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago between 2009 and 2011. In 2013, they obtained an ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Internal Auditor certification from BSI.
