Joseph S. Nocua Tole has a diverse work experience in various scientific research roles. Joseph S. started their career as a Research Technician at Meiogenix in 2023. Prior to that, they had multiple roles at Cornell University, including being an Undergraduate Researcher at the Schmidt Lab of Aquatic Microbiology and the Richardson Lab of Applied Microbiology. In these roles, they worked on developing models related to Harmful Algal Bloom toxicity and bloom density. Joseph S. also served as an Office of Undergraduate Biology Student Advisor and was involved in organizing volunteer sample taking for lake associations. Joseph was also part of Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society, where they were the Undergraduate President and Vice President, responsible for managing events and revitalizing the Cornell University chapter. Joseph S. also worked as a Teaching Assistant for EDUC 2410 at Cornell University. Additionally, Joseph was a Team Lead and Recruitment Chair at AguaClara Cornell, where they were involved in overseeing recruitment processes, restructuring grading systems, and organizing trainings. Joseph S. also gained research experience at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the NYS Water Resources Institute. Prior to their time at Cornell, Joseph worked as a Researcher at the Giray Lab and the Feng Lab at Universidad de Puerto Rico, where they conducted independent research on various topics and gained skills in wet lab techniques and scientific software.

Joseph S. Nocua Tole is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences (Microbiology) at Cornell University. Joseph S. started their undergraduate studies in 2020 and is expected to graduate in 2024. Prior to attending Cornell, in 2019, Joseph participated in the Caminos al Futuro program at The George Washington University. Joseph S. also completed a college course at Universidad de Puerto Rico in the same year.

Furthermore, Joseph obtained their high school diploma from University High School UPR in 2020, where they studied General Studies.

In addition to their academic achievements, Joseph has obtained various certifications. Joseph S. received BSL-1 and BSL-2 Lab Safety Training from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in June 2022. In June 2021, they obtained a Chemical Waste Disposal Certification from Cornell University College of Engineering. In March 2021, Joseph completed the Engineering Project Team Laboratory Safety certification at Cornell University. Joseph S. also obtained the EHS Laboratory Safety certification from Cornell University College of Engineering in September 2020. Prior to their university education, Joseph received several Microsoft certifications, including Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Excel 2016, Microsoft Technology Associate: Windows Operating System Fundamentals (MTA), Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Word 2016, and Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) PowerPoint 2016, all in 2018.
