Timo Johannssen

Timo Johannssen has extensive work experience in the field of scientific research and laboratory work. Timo began their career as a Student Assistant at CCS Cell Culture Service in 2006 and then joined Beiersdorf, where they completed an internship, Bachelor Thesis, and worked as a Research Assistant. In 2011, they became a Research Assistant at the Max Delbrück Center, where they also completed their Master Thesis. Timo then continued their academic pursuits at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids an Interfaces, where they worked on their PhD Thesis from 2012 to 2016. Timo then joined upcyte technologies as a Scientist and Laboratory Head, where they worked from 2016 to 2020. Currently, Timo serves as a Senior Scientist and Head of Laboratory Drug Discovery at Silence Therapeutics plc, a position they began in August 2020.

Timo Johannssen has an extensive education history in the field of biochemistry and biotechnology. Timo began their academic journey in 2006 at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biotechnology in 2010.

After completing their undergraduate studies, Timo pursued a Master of Science degree in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at the same institution from 2010 to 2012. During this time, they acquired a deeper understanding of the field and expanded their knowledge in related areas.

Committed to their educational development, Timo went on to pursue a doctoral degree at Freie Universität Berlin from 2012 to 2016. Timo successfully obtained the degree "Dr. rer. nat." in Biochemistry, further establishing their expertise in the subject.

In addition to their formal education, Timo Johannssen has also earned several certifications to enhance their professional qualifications. These include an Accreditation for performing animal experiments according to § 9 TierSchG (FELASA B) from Berliner Fortbildungen, an Advanced Training Course according to § 15 GenTSV from BioMedConcept GmbH, and a certification in Project Management from IHK Hamburg. These certifications demonstrate their commitment to staying current in their field and expanding their knowledge and skills beyond their formal education.
