Sónia Carneiro worked as the Head Of Development at SilicoLife from November 2012 onwards. Before that, they held various roles at the University of Minho and Gulbenkian Institute of Science, including Post-Doc researcher from January 2011 to November 2012, PhD student from January 2006 to December 2010, and Scientific Investigation Fellowship from September 2005 to December 2005. Their work during this time focused on applying a systems biology perspective to increase the productivity of recombinant protein production processes. Prior to their time at the University of Minho, Sónia worked as a Scientific researcher and Scientific Investigation Fellow at the University of Aveiro.
Sónia Carneiro obtained their PhD in Systems Biology from Universidade do Minho, where they studied from 2005 to 2010. In 2004, they completed a post-graduation program in Biotechnology - Bioprocesses Engineering at Universidade do Minho. Prior to this, they completed their high graduation in Biotechnology Engineering from Instituto Politécnico de Bragança, where they studied from 1997 to 2005.
Additionally, Sónia Carneiro participated in several training courses and summer schools to further enhance their knowledge and skills. In 2012, they completed a training course in Bioinformatics using Python for Biologists at IGC. Sónia also attended a training course on Microarray Data Analysis using R and Bioconductor at IGC in 2011. Furthermore, they attended a summer school on Proteomic Basics "From sample to sequence" at Max-Planck-Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in 2006. In the same year, they completed a course in Metabolic Engineering and Systems Biology at Technical University of Denmark. Lastly, they completed a post-graduation program in Functional genomics: Molecular mechanisms regulating the gene activities at University of Lisbon in 2004.
