Position: Senior Manager, PV Plant Engineering

Location: Remote

Overview: This position is responsible for leading a team of engineers, overseeing various feedback loops for maximizing Levelized Cost of Energy and continuous improvements for the pv plants, supporting key issues from identification through preventing their recurrence, and providing key technical support throughout the life of projects.

Main Responsibilities: 

  • Leads the Plant Engineering team, ensuring they have clear objectives and key results, and are supported in meeting their objectives.

  • Enables the Plant Engineers to develop and sustain the appropriate skillsets and support systems to be self-sufficient in managing and prioritizing issues.

  • Leads the SRC Key Issue Resolution program.

  • Leads the Levelized Cost of Energy Program at SRC to support Executives and Leaders in making key decisions around capital investments and operational impacts.

  • Leads the comprehensive resolution of key engineering issues across the fleet, such as serial defects and major equipment failures, from supporting investigations and corrections as needed through finalizing the root cause analysis through identifying actions to prevent the recurrence of issues on current and future assets.

  • Leads the management of the documentation of RCA investigations, major repairs, serial defects, and improvement projects for the PV Plant from initial installation through end-of-life or repowering decisions.

  • Leads the technical support within the Vendor and Contractor warranty claim process for the full life cycle of our operating projects, from contracting through end of life.

  • Leads Plant Engineering support in optimizing plant performance for projects that are showing consistent performance issues, and during the first 6 months of operations for new projects, to quickly resolve latent issues.

  • Provides key support to leadership on the selection of major equipment for new projects.

  • Supports the Asset Management team in resolving major equipment failures and serial defects by providing initial engineering support to identify, define and prioritize critical issues across the fleet as requested.

  • Provides key technical support in managing the feedback loop between the Asset Operations and Management Team and the various vendors, contractors, and other SRC teams.

  • Provides insights to support the determination of the spare parts for current and future projects.

  • Provides technical guidance on what needs to be on the punchlist to close a project out and processes to implement and reduce punchlists and identify issues earlier in the project lifecycle.

  • Provides technical support to the Project Engineering Team with the oversight of commissioning activities and testing requirements to achieve substantial completion on performance-impacting commissioning items.

  • Facilitates the creation of guides on how to complete performance-related commissioning activities as needed.

  • Lead the identification of areas of inefficiency in gathering and supporting insights across the life of PV plants through a continuous improvement program.

  • Lead the development and implementation of tools and/or processes to resolve inefficiencies.

Qualifications: 

  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Products and Adobe Acrobat Reader required.

  • Expertise in Solar Power Plant Operations or Design required.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree Preferred

Experience:

  • 7+ years as an assistant project manager, project manager, project engineer or relevant equivalent in a construction or maintenance environment is required.

  • 5+ years in Solar construction or operations and maintenance is required.

  • 2+ years of experience leading people required.
