David Fitzgibbon

David Fitzgibbon has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. David began their career in 1998 at Marconi Communications, where they progressed through the Technical Trainee program and eventually became a lead programmer in the development of an internal worldwide technical training booking system. After leaving Marconi, David joined Blue Fountain Systems Limited in 2003 as a Senior Developer, responsible for developing and maintaining critical logistics and production line systems for major Japanese Automotive manufacturers across Europe.

In 2007, David moved on to Facebook Fantasy Football, where they created the first ever Fantasy Football game on Facebook using Ruby on Rails and MySQL. David faced the challenge of rapidly increasing server capacity due to viral growth.

Following their time at Facebook, David joined Click Tonight Ltd in 2007 as a Senior Developer, managing the migration from a legacy .NET and SQL Server based site to a Linux based, Ruby on Rails, MySQL site. David was responsible for maintaining and updating the site, improving performance and scalability by moving high volume data to MongoDB.

In 2011, David started working at SilkFred.com as a Senior Developer and later became the Chief Technology Officer. David led a team in building a fashion e-commerce platform using Ruby on Rails, MongoDB, Redis, and other technologies. David also handled the integration of SagePay and PayPal for payment processing and built the original infrastructure with Amazon Web Services before relocating to Rackspace Cloud.

David also worked at TableCrowd LTD as a Senior Developer from 2011 to 2016. David was involved in the initial development of the Ruby on Rails, MongoDB based site and oversaw the development team, using their skills for more complex tasks when required.

Throughout their career, David has gained expertise in various technologies including Ruby on Rails, MySQL, MongoDB, and more. David has proven their ability to lead teams, develop innovative solutions, and handle challenges related to scaling and performance.
