Kimmo Sääskilahti's work experience begins in 2007 as a research assistant at VTT, where they prepared their B. Sc. thesis. Kimmo then worked as a research assistant at Helsinki University of Technology, focusing on quantum many-body physics and the properties of graphene. In 2010, Kimmo was a research trainee at RWTH Aachen University, where they wrote their M. Sc. thesis on quantum magnetism.

From 2013 to 2014, Kimmo was a visiting researcher at Ecole Centrale Paris, collaborating on the development of a comprehensive theory for determining heat current spectrum in nanoscale systems. In 2015, they were a visiting researcher at Carnegie Mellon University, investigating heat transfer in amorphous silicon and superlattices.

Kimmo's doctoral research project at Aalto University, starting in 2011 and ending in 2016, focused on improving energy efficiency in technological devices through the development of computational methods. This research involved studying heat transfer in nanoscale systems such as carbon nanotubes and silicon nanowires.

Starting in 2016, Kimmo worked at IndoorAtlas Inc as an algorithm and software developer. Kimmo'sresponsibilities expanded to include full-stack web and backend development as well as leading the Data team. Kimmo utilized various languages and technologies such as Java, TypeScript, AngularJS, and AWS.

In 2018, Kimmo joined Meeshkan Machine Learning as a machine learning engineer. Kimmo worked on Dev Tools 2.0 and machine learning projects using Node.js, Python, and TypeScript.

Currently, since 2020, Kimmo is at Silo AI, where they have held the roles of Senior Software Developer and Lead Software Developer. Kimmo has led the development of multiple R&D projects, building internal and productized tooling. The technology stack utilized includes Python, TypeScript, Django, Vue.js, and various other tools and platforms.

Kimmo Sääskilahti obtained a D.Sc. (Tech.) degree in Computational Science from Aalto University between 2011 and 2015. Prior to that, they earned an M.Sc. (Tech.) degree in Physics and Mathematics from Teknillinen korkeakoulu-Tekniska högskolan, with a duration from 2005 to 2011. In addition to their academic qualifications, Kimmo has also obtained certifications in areas such as Apache Kafka from Udemy in February 2020 and Microsoft Azure Fundamentals from Microsoft in May 2019.
