Alan Maccormack

Alan MacCormack is an expert in the management of innovation and software product development. He is the M.B.A. Class of 1949 Adjunct Professor of Business Administration at the Harvard Business School. His recent work has focused on analyzing software architecture by exploring the networks of interdependencies that can be automatically extracted from software code bases. In 2011, he received the Apgar Award for Innovation in Teaching for his role in designing action-based learning courses that embed his research findings in real-world situations. In 2013 he received the Greenhill award for his contributions to the Harvard Business School community. Alan’s work has been published in a variety of leading journals, including IEEE Software, Management Science, Research Policy, and Harvard Business Review. Alan has a B.S. in engineering from the University of Bath in England, an M.Sc. from MIT’s Sloan School of Management, and a Ph.D. from Harvard Business School.
