Ian Harvey

Ian Harvey has a diverse range of work experience in the field of software engineering and research. Ian is currently employed as a Lead Software Engineer at SIMBA Chain since February 2019. Prior to this role, Ian worked at Cardiff University / Prifysgol Caerdydd, where they held multiple research positions. These included roles as a Research Software Engineer from May 2017 to September 2019, a Research Associate from May 2015 to September 2019, a Research Associate from January 2014 to May 2015, and a Research Associate from December 2012 to December 2013. During these positions, Ian worked on various projects involving Python, Django, PostgreSQL, PostGIS, and JavaScript, as well as machine learning and crowd sourcing. Additionally, Ian gained experience in PHP, JavaScript, PostgreSQL, PostGIS, and database design and management while working on the WISERD DataPortal. Before joining Cardiff University, Ian worked as a Research Assistant at ViaVM from July 2010 to November 2012, primarily focusing on Java programming and the Triana Workflow Engine for scientific workflows. Ian also has experience as an Integration Architect at ViaVM from September 2013 to June 2016.
