Jeff Liu, Ph.D. has extensive work experience in various roles. Jeff is currently serving as a Senior Manager of Corporate Development at Simcha Therapeutics since April 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a Consultant at Putnam from February 2021 to June 2022 and again from July 2022 to April 2023, where they focused on life sciences consulting.
From October 2017 to December 2020, Jeff Liu worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University School of Medicine. During this time, they produced an engineered Type 1 regulatory T cell product for suppressing graft-versus-host disease induced by allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
Jeff also served as a Consultant at Biotech Connection - Bay Area, Inc. from September 2019 to February 2020. In this role, they performed due diligence and evaluation of biotechnology startups to inform investment decisions and developed investment theses on gene delivery technologies.
Before that, Jeff Liu gained experience as a Visiting Graduate Student at the University of Michigan from September 2014 to August 2017 and as a Ph.D. Candidate at Northwestern University from September 2012 to August 2017.
Furthermore, they completed an internship at KineMed, Inc. from January 2015 to May 2015, where they developed an in vitro culture system and utilized heavy water labeling and LC-MS/MS to analyze changes in extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling.
Their early work experience includes serving as an Undergraduate Researcher in the Thorner Lab at UC Berkeley from August 2010 to May 2012.
Jeff Liu, Ph.D. earned their B.A. degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, where they studied from 2008 to 2012. Subsequently, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biological and Biomedical Sciences at Northwestern University from 2012 to 2017.
