Omri Shkedi

Omri Shkedi has extensive work experience in the field of data engineering and software development.

From 2021 to the present, they are working at Similarweb as a Principal Data Engineer. Their responsibilities include developing and maintaining large-scale data pipelines for the Apps intelligence platform. Omri has designed and coded Apache Spark jobs, integrated them with existing pipelines using Airflow, and stored data with Parquet over HDFS and S3.

Prior to that, from 2020 to 2021, Omri worked at Cognyte as a Software Developer, where they developed an analytics system for managing investigations. Omri designed and built an ETL using Apache Spark, Scala, and Apache NiFi to replace the legacy infrastructure. Omri also developed multiple services using Java and Node.

Before joining Cognyte, Omri worked at webintPro Ltd. from 2019 to 2020 as a Software Developer. Omri developed an analytics system for managing investigations and worked with various databases and storage formats such as Elasticsearch, ArangoDB, MySQL, and Parquet.

Omri's work experience also includes serving in the IDF - Israel Defence Forces from 2011 to 2019. Omri held the position of Captain - Cyber Crime Division Chief from 2016 to 2019, where they provided forensics services, developed tools and software, and investigated cyber crimes. Prior to that, they served as an Officer of Operations (G3) from 2014 to 2016, where they worked under operational pressure and monitored task execution. Omri also served as a Commander of Platoon from 2013 to 2014 and started their career as a Soldier from 2011 to 2013.

Omri Shkedi completed their high school education at The Comprehensive School for Science and Art from 2008 to 2011, obtaining a full matriculation. Later, in 2016, they enrolled at The Open University of Israel where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree, specializing in an undisclosed field of study. Omri successfully completed their degree in 2021. Additionally, in 2017, Omri Shkedi underwent training as a Certified Computer Crimes Investigator by IDF, though they did not earn a specific degree in this program.
