Martin Phelan

Martin Phelan is a seasoned tax professional with extensive experience in tax law and arbitration. Currently serving as the Head of Tax in Ireland at Simmons & Simmons since January 2021, Martin also holds the position of Secretary General at CFE Tax Advisers Europe since January 2019. Martin has participated as an arbitrator in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in 2023 and 2024. Previously, Martin was a Tax Partner and founder at William Fry from 1999 to 2020 and a board member of Taxand from 2015 to 2020. Martin's career commenced at KPMG Ireland, where roles included Director of FS corporate tax. Martin's academic credentials include an LL.M in International Commercial Law and a B.L. from the Honorable Society of King's Inns, among other qualifications in Tax Law, Accounting, and Business from prestigious institutions such as University College Dublin, Trinity College Dublin, and Boston College.
