Andy Yan

Andy Yan, FCIP, RPP, GISP, serves as an Associate Professor of Professional Practice and Adjunct Professor in Urban Studies at Simon Fraser University since January 2017, also holding the position of Director for the City Program within Simon Fraser University Continuing Studies since October 2016. Yan has an extensive consulting background, as Principal of Andrew Yan Consulting since 2006, providing expertise in urban analysis, data visualization, and demographic profiling for various municipalities and organizations. Additional roles include Adjunct Professor at the University of British Columbia and Senior Urban Planner/Researcher at Bing Thom Architects, contributing significantly to various urban planning and development projects across North America. Yan has authored multiple urban studies, engaged in teaching, and built a strong public presence in media related to urban issues and innovative programming. Academic credentials include a Master of Arts in Urban Planning from UCLA and a Bachelor of Arts with First Class Honours in Geography/Political Science from Simon Fraser University.
