Steve Ko

Steve Ko currently serves as the Associate Director of Research and Industry Relations and Associate Professor at Simon Fraser University, a position held since January 2021. Prior to this role, Steve Ko was an Associate Professor and Assistant Professor at the University at Buffalo from 2010 to December 2020, and completed a postdoctoral research associate role at Princeton University in 2010. Earlier experience includes significant research contributions at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where Steve Ko earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2009, and held various assistant roles, focusing on advanced data storage solutions, distributed querying systems, and grid scheduling strategies. Additional internships at HP Labs and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory further enriched Steve Ko’s expertise in performance tools and network infrastructure. Steve Ko holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Seoul National University and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Yonsei University.
