Graham Kendall has an extensive work experience in the brewing and malt industry. Graham has held various roles in different companies over the years.
Graham started their career as an Assistant Brewer at Wellington County Brewery in 1988. Graham later joined Ab Inbev as a Microbiologist, where they worked on the launch of a non-heat pasteurized sterile filtered beer.
In 1991, they moved to Canada Malting Ltd as a Maltster, responsible for meeting production schedules and managing a unionized workforce. Graham then became the Head Maltster, overseeing three malt plants and ensuring quality, sanitation, and safety standards were met.
In 2000, Graham joined Anheuser-Busch InBev as a Brewer, managing daily beer production operations and a unionized workforce. Graham later became a Brewmaster, directing all brewing activities, and implemented a HACCP program.
In 2006, they continued their tenure at Anheuser-Busch InBev as an Operations Manager, responsible for bottling, canning, and kegging operations. Graham successfully applied lean six sigma management techniques to drive performance and introduced two new beer brands to the Edmonton Brewery.
In 2014, Graham joined Beam Suntory as the General Manager of Alberta Distillers LTD, overseeing site operations, human relations, safety, environment, and supply chain efficiencies. Graham was also involved in major capital projects and contract negotiations.
From 2020 to 2021, they worked at United Malt as the Plant General Manager, managing malting and supply chain operations. Graham led the production of specialty malt products and a team of 60 FTEs.
Most recently, Graham has joined Big Rock Brewery as the Brewmaster and Director of Brewing Operations. Graham is accountable for brewing activities and the overall operations of the brewery.
In 2023, they will start a new role as the Site Operations Director at Simpsons Malt Limited.
Graham Kendall has a diverse education history. In 1981, they began their undergraduate studies at Acadia University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree with Honours in Biology-Microbiology. Graham successfully completed their undergraduate education in 1985.
After gaining some practical experience in the field, Graham decided to further their education in 1994. Graham enrolled at Heriot-Watt University and pursued a Master of Science degree in Brewing, Malting, and Distilling. After two years of intensive study, they successfully completed their degree in 1996. Additionally, during this period in 1995, they earned a Diploma in Brewing from the Institute of Brewing and Distilling.
Recognizing the importance of business administration in their professional development, Graham pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. In 2019, they enrolled at the Haskayne School of Business, focusing on Business Administration and Management. Graham successfully completed their MBA degree in 2020.
To enhance their professional qualifications, Graham obtained a Six Sigma Green Belt Certification from Falconi (INDG - Institute for Managerial Development) in November 2011.
