Simula Research Laboratory
Evrim Acar Ataman has a wide range of work experience in research and academia. Evrim most recently worked as a Chief Research Scientist at the Simula Metropolitan Center for Digital Engineering and the Simula Research Laboratory. Prior to that, they held roles as a Senior Research Scientist and Assistant Professor at the University of Copenhagen and a Visiting Scholar at Boğaziçi University. Evrim has also worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Copenhagen, Stanford University, and Sandia National Laboratories. Additionally, they gained experience as a Senior Research Scientist at TUBITAK and as a Graduate Assistant at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Evrim has also had a visiting researcher position at Copenhagen University.
Evrim Acar Ataman obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from Boğaziçi University in the years 1999 to 2003. Following that, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute from 2003 to 2006. Continuing their educational journey, they completed their Ph.D. in Computer Science from the same institution, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, from 2003 to 2008. Before their higher education, they attended TED Ankara Koleji from 1991 to 1998, although no specific degree information is available for this period.
Simula Research Laboratory
Simula Research Laboratory's main objective is to create knowledge about fundamental scientific challenges that are of genuine value for society. Important research with long-term impact in the fields of networks and distributed systems, scientific computing and software engineering constitutes the basis of Simula. The strong focus on basic research is combined with both teaching of postgraduate students and development of commercial applications.
