Amir Farnoud

Technology Lead at SIMULATE

Amir Farnoud has worked in a variety of roles in the technology and research fields. In 2021, they began working as a Technology Lead and Research Lead at SIMULATE. Prior to this, in 2020, they were a Senior Scientist-Innovation at Beyond Meat, where they worked on lipid-based concepts and materials to enhance products and drive the development of future products in the area of plant-based meat alternatives. From 2015 to 2020, Amir Farnoud was an Associate Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Ohio University, where their research group focused on studies at the nanoparticle-biomembrane interface. From 2013 to 2015, they were a Postdoctoral Fellow at Stony Brook University, where they characterized cell membrane biophysical properties in the fungal pathogen Cryptococcus neoformans.

Amir Farnoud completed their Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Tehran in 2005. Amir then went on to earn their Master of Science in Chemical Engineering-Biotechnology from Tarbiat Modares University in 2007. Finally, they obtained their PhD in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering from the University of Iowa in 2013.
