Wenbo Shi

CEO/Founder at Singularity Energy

Wenbo Shi has a diverse background in energy research, entrepreneurship, and academia. Wenbo is currently working as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Technical Committee on Carbon Neutrality. Prior to this, they founded Singularity Energy in 2018 and served as the CEO, where they developed an intelligent grid decarbonization platform. Wenbo has received recognition for their work, including winning the Harvard Physical Science & Engineering Accelerator and the Greentown Labs Bold Idea Challenge in partnership with Schneider Electric.

Before founding Singularity Energy, Wenbo worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard University from 2015 to 2019, focusing on energy research. Wenbo also gained experience as a Graduate Student Researcher at the UCLA Smart Grid Energy Research Center (SMERC) from 2011 to 2015. Prior to that, they worked as a Research Assistant at The University of British Columbia from 2009 to 2011.

Wenbo then proceeded to The University of British Columbia, where they completed their Master of Applied Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering between 2009 and 2011. Subsequently, they joined UCLA and spent the period from 2011 to 2015 studying at the Smart Grid Energy Research Center, where they successfully obtained their Ph.D. in the field.
