Iroshan Aberathne

Iroshan Aberathne has a strong background in software engineering, data science, and information technology. Their most recent role was as an Architect in Software Engineering & Data Science at Sinorbis since August 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Lecturer in Information Technology at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura from November 2020 to July 2022. Iroshan also served as an Assistant Vice President in Data Science at Softlogic Life from February 2020 to November 2020.

Before that, they held technical leadership positions at Vetstoria from March 2019 to March 2020 and at Visual Concept Labs (Pvt.) Ltd from February 2018 to February 2019, where they specialized in Java and machine learning. Iroshan also worked as a Senior Software Engineer in Java at Eyepax IT Consulting (Pvt) Ltd. from November 2016 to January 2018, and as a Senior Software Engineer at xcendant from May 2016 to November 2016. At xcendant, they initially started as a Software Engineer in Java from February 2015 to May 2016.

Iroshan Aberathne began their career as an Associate Engineer in Software Quality Assurance at Virtusa from December 2013 to September 2014. Overall, they have a diverse range of experiences in software engineering, data science, and technology leadership.

Iroshan Aberathne completed their education as follows:

- From 2021 to 2024, Iroshan attended Lincoln University (NZ) and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy - Ph.D in Artificial Intelligence.

- From 2016 to 2020, they attended the University of Peradeniya and earned a Master of Philosophy - M.Phil in Engineering Mathematics.

- From 2009 to 2013, Iroshan studied at the University of Peradeniya and received a Bachelor of Science - B.Sc(Hons) in Computation & Management.

- In 2021, they completed a Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education (CTHE) at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

- Between 1998 and 2006, Iroshan attended Bandaranayake College, Gampaha, where they pursued the Science Stream with a focus on Physical Sciences.

Additionally, Iroshan obtained the following certifications:

- In December 2021, they became a Full Member of IT Professionals New Zealand.

- In September 2021, they became a Professional Member of the Computer Society of Sri Lanka.

- In August 2019, they became a Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

- In September 2018, they became a Professional Member of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT.
