Bryan McEntire

Emeritus Scientific Officer at SINTX Technologies

Bryan McEntire has over 40 years of experience in the ceramics industry. Bryan began their career in 1974 as a Research Technician for DOE-Ford. In 1976, they became a Supervisor at the Pre-Pilot Plant for beta-alumina ceramics at the University of Utah. In 1978, they were appointed Manager of Ceramic Production and Development at Ceramatec, Inc. and in 1981 they became Plant Manager at Beta-Alumina, Ceramatec, Inc. From 1987 to 1993, they served as Vice President and Technical Director, then Operations Manager at Norton/TRW Ceramics. From 1993 to 1998, they were General Manager at Norton Advanced Ceramics. From 1998 to 2004, they were Senior Director of Supply Chain Management at Applied Materials. Finally, from 2004 to the present, they have held the roles of Emeritus Scientific Officer, Chief Scientific Officer, and Chief Technology Officer at SINTX Technologies, where they were responsible for product development, project management, research, development, and manufacturing engineering of innovative silicon nitride ceramics for orthopedic applications. Bryan also designed and built a pilot-plant for initial production and testing of implants between 2004 and 2006.

Bryan McEntire's education history includes a B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Utah, obtained between 1970 and 1982. Bryan also obtained an M.B.A. in Operations Management from the University of Utah during this same time period. In 2013-2015, they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from the Kyoto Institute of Technology. Additionally, they hold an ASQ Certified Six-Sigma Black Belt certification.
