Hector Mcalpine

Hector McAlpine is currently a Board Member at Sir Robert McAlpine. Hector has previously held positions as Chairman at Highways Term Maintenance Association from July 2012 to July 2014, and Director for New Business at Balfour Beatty from October 2011 to April 2017.

At Highways Term Maintenance Association, Hector led an Executive team that increased membership, increased operating surpluses, launched a new strategy and structure, and appointed a new Executive Director and new Secretariat. As the immediate past Chairman, they remained a ex-officio member of the Executive Board until July 2015 and was an active member until April 2017.

At Balfour Beatty, Hector was responsible for winning new business across all Major Projects' sectors - Highways, Infrastructure and Power & Energy - for target clients including Highways England, Network Rail, TfL/LUL, Crossrail, Sellafield Ltd, HS2, Horizon and EdF. Their teams included estimating, bid management, knowledge management, planning, proposals and business development. Hector was also responsible for a central (and award winning!) Engineering Excellence team including temporary works, design management, materials engineering, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, construction methods, digital engineering, surveying, laser scanning and innovative solutions. Hector had teams in London and Manchester.

Hector McAlpine studied civil engineering at the University of Birmingham and then went on to study at University College School in London.
