Carla Griffiths

Carla Griffiths is a research fellow at the Sainsbury Wellcome Centre for Neural Circuits and Behaviour, focusing on topological data analysis of biological neural data to enhance artificial network learning rules. Previously, as a senior postgraduate teaching assistant at UCL, Carla taught 175 students in interactive data visualization using machine learning and full-stack web development techniques, emphasizing PHP and SQL in earlier years. Carla's experience includes research internships at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, where nuclei segmentation and cell counting were implemented for microscopy images, and at the National Institutes of Health, quantifying DNA and mRNA in smFISH images. An intern at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Carla contributed to projects aimed at improving operational efficiency. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Neuroscience and a BEng in Chemical Engineering from UCL, along with a high school diploma from National Cathedral School.
