Gene Boxer is the current Executive Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer & Group General Counsel at Sirius Group.
Boxer has held this position since August 2016, and in this role, they are responsible for leading the Sirius Group's strategic transactions, including public and private financings, bolt-on MGU acquisitions, initial public offering via merger with Nasdaq-listed special purpose acquisition company (SPAC), private placement (PIPE) with cornerstone investors, and global initiatives.
Prior to joining Sirius Group, Boxer served as chief legal advisor to the Board of Directors on corporate governance and strategic matters at Sirius International Insurance Group Ltd. from August 2016 to February 2021. In this role, they were responsible for the oversight of business segments and corporate functions globally. Gene also led the successful execution of the first SPAC merger in the insurance space (in 2018), launched a multi-year globalization of Sirius’s disparate legacy, local operations (in 2019), navigated the overhang on the firm due to the financial distress of its majority-shareholder (in 2020) and ultimately executed the successful sale of the company during a global pandemic (completed in February 2021).
