Theo Ruers

Theo Ruers is an accomplished medical professional with extensive experience in oncology and biomedical imaging. Currently serving as the Director of Medical Affairs and Research at the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Center for Early Cancer Diagnostics since March 2022, Theo Ruers is also a co-founder of both Bcon Medical and Sirius Medical. Additionally, Ruers holds the position of Clinical Professor in Oncology at the University of Twente, where the focus is on biomedical imaging in oncology. With a rich background at the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek and The Netherlands Cancer Institute, Ruers has been instrumental as the Group Leader of the Image Guided Surgery Group and Head of the Division of Surgical Oncology. Other roles include membership on the EORTC GI Board and previous academic positions at Radboudumc. Theo Ruers holds an M.D. and a PhD in Immunology from Maastricht University, complemented by specialized education at Hammersmith Hospital and King’s College London.
