Alessandro Mazzacani

Alessandro Mazzacani has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of medicinal chemistry. Alessandro is currently working at Sitryx as a Research Leader since November 2022. Prior to this role, they held the position of Principal Medicinal Chemist at Sitryx from April 2021 to November 2022.

Before joining Sitryx, Alessandro worked as the Director of Medicinal Chemistry at KalVista Pharmaceuticals, Inc. from November 2017 to June 2020. In this role, they were responsible for leading the chemistry department and formulating the medicinal chemistry strategy.

From September 2014 to January 2018, Alessandro served as a Research Fellow at the University of Sussex. Prior to that, they were a Medicinal Chemist Lab Head at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research from April 2009 to June 2014.

Alessandro'sprevious experience also includes working as a Senior Medicinal Chemist at Boehringer Ingelheim from October 2007 to February 2009. Alessandro started their career as a Medicinal Chemist at NiKem Research in June 2004 and worked there until September 2007, where they also served as an R&D project leader and Outsourcing Manager.

Alessandro also worked at Pfizer as a Synthetic Organic Chemist Contractor from March 2003 to May 2004.

Alessandro Mazzacani completed their education in a chronological order. Alessandro started their academic journey in 1994 at Università degli Studi di Parma, where they pursued a Master's degree in Chemistry, which they completed in 1999. Following this, in 2000, they continued their studies at the same institution and enrolled in a PhD program in Organic Chemistry, completing it in 2002. Alongside their PhD, Alessandro also spent some time as a Postgraduate Student at Imperial College London in 2002, focusing on Synthetic Organic Chemistry.
