Marie Strickland's work experience began in November 2013 at Stroud School, where they worked as a Science Assistant. Marie'sresponsibilities included assisting students and teachers in science lessons, maintaining stock, preparing equipment, and ensuring safety procedures were followed.
In March 2014, they worked as a Summer Student at the University of Portsmouth.
From October 2014 to September 2015, Marie worked as a Masters Student at Newcastle University, focusing on Cancer Studies, Drug Discovery & Development, and Cell Cycle Control. Marie'sthesis focused on the role of AMP-activated protein kinase in energy metabolism within glioma-initiating cells.
Starting in May 2016, Marie served as a PhD Research Student at the University of Southampton. Marie'sresearch focused on cellular metabolism, immunology, and aging. Marie'sthesis explored the involvement of chronic inflammation in age-related diseases and examined mitochondrial dysfunction in murine models.
In May 2017, they worked as a Research Assistant at A*STAR. Marie'sfocus was on cellular metabolism, immunology, and aging. Marie used complex flow cytometry experiments to analyze mitochondrial dysfunction in human immune cells and murine models.
Marie then worked as a Post-doctoral Research Assistant at the MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine from February 2020 to December 2021.
Marie'smost recent position is as a Research Scientist at Sitryx, starting in December 2021.
Throughout their work experience, Marie has developed research expertise in various techniques including transmission electron microscopy, real-time RT-PCR, complex flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, and statistical analysis.
Marie Strickland obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Immunology from the University of Southampton between 2016 and 2020. Prior to that, they obtained a Master's degree in Medical and Molecular Biosciences from Newcastle University from 2014 to 2015. Marie completed their undergraduate studies at the University of Exeter, where they received a BSc degree in Human Biosciences from 2010 to 2013. Marie also pursued A-level studies in Human Biology at the Burgate School and Sixth Form Centre from 2008 to 2010. Additionally, they obtained a PIL AB Personal License certification from the Royal Society of Biology in November 2016.
