Carter Fang has a diverse range of work experience in various companies and roles. In 2016, they worked as an Undergraduate Researcher in the UBC MiNa/BioMEMS Group, focusing on designing silicon photonic structures. They also served as an Opto-Mechanical Intern at LMI Technologies, where they drafted drawings, performed tolerance stack-ups, and designed components. In 2018, they worked as a Systems Engineering Intern at Motion Metrics International Corp, conducting experiments and developing camera configuration tools. In 2019, they joined AMZ Racing as a Visual Perception for Driverless intern. In 2020, they served as a Computer Vision Consultant at ETH juniors and also worked on a Semester Thesis project at the Computer Vision Group. In 2021, they worked as an Autonomous Vehicle Intern at Motional and as a Perception Intern at SonyAI. Currently, in 2022, they are a Master Thesis Student at the Robotics and Perception Group. Presently, they are also a Research Engineer at Waabi.

Carter Fang completed their Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Mechatronics at The University of British Columbia from 2013 to 2019. In 2017, they also obtained a Certificate in Front End Development from freeCodeCamp.

After completing their Bachelor's degree, they pursued further education and obtained a Master's degree in Robotics, Systems, and Control from ETH Zürich from 2019 to 2022.

In addition to their formal education, Carter Fang also obtained several certifications. In 2018, they completed the course "Neural Networks and Deep Learning" from Coursera. In 2019, they completed the courses "Convolutional Neural Networks" from Coursera and "Robotics: Computational Motion Planning" from the University of Pennsylvania on Coursera.
