Gloria Shin has a diverse work experience in various engineering roles. Gloria currently works as an SSD Reliability System Engineer at SK hynix memory solutions America Inc. since September 2020. Prior to that, they were a Hardware Reliability Engineer Intern at Apple from October 2019 to September 2020.
Before joining Apple, Gloria worked at Akorbi as a Reliability Hardware Test Engineer at Google from March 2018 to September 2019. Gloria was responsible for executing and analyzing life cycle tests and performing engineering and statistical analysis for design improvements.
In 2017, Gloria worked at BD as an Engineer 1. Gloria'sresponsibilities included handling reliability deliverables in the product development process and conducting life cycle tests.
Gloria also gained experience as an Equipment Service Technician at Thermo Fisher Scientific from August 2016 to March 2017. In this role, they performed maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair on various manufacturing and testing instruments in the field of DNA/RNA synthesis.
Additionally, Gloria worked as a Quality Engineer at Pegatron (Volt Workforce Solutions) in July 2016 and as a Quality Engineer Co-op intern at Alcon Research, Ltd, as part of their co-op program at PRO Unlimited in 2015.
Gloria started their career as an Undergraduate Student Researcher in the Orthopedic Biomechanics Laboratory at UC Davis, where they contributed to projects involving MRI and CAT scan analysis, kinematic alignment of knee surgery, and human clinical studies.
Gloria also worked as a Student Assistant Intern in the Peter Havel Lab at UC Davis, contributing to studies on the metabolism of sugar, wet lab operations, and meal preparations for cohort subjects. Additionally, they were a Team Member in the Rear Suspension group and a Student IT Assistant, gaining experience in engineering design, fabrication, and computer maintenance.
Before their engineering roles, Gloria served as an ASES-Math Tutor at Prairie Elementary, where they mentored disadvantaged 5th graders and provided homework help, as well as led science and engineering enrichment classes.
Gloria Shin completed their Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering & Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Davis, between 2011 and 2016. In 2015, they also obtained a certification as a Certified SolidWorks Associate. Starting in 2019, Gloria is pursuing a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Southern California, which is expected to be completed in 2025.
