Jessica Stanis

Director of Undergraduate Sciences at Sketchy

Jessica Stanis has held a variety of roles in the fields of science and wine. In 2020, they became the Director of Undergraduate Sciences and Managing Editor at Sketchy. From 2015 to 2020, they were the Associate Director of Product Development at JoVE (Journal of Visualized Experiments), where they were responsible for planning, designing, and developing innovative video-based educational products. Jessica also managed a team of over 20 video editors, motion-graphics animators, and science writers. From 2013 to 2015, they were a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School, where they investigated the neural mechanisms that govern plasticity related to decision-making and reward-related behaviors. From 2009 to 2013, they were the Manager and Owner of Wines at the Pines, where they traveled the world to discover new wines and shared their passion with customers. Jessica also earned several certificates and distinctions in the wine industry, such as the WSET Advanced Certificate with Distinction, Certified Specialist of Wine, and Court of Master Sommeliers Level 1.

Jessica Stanis completed a Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and subsequently earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Neuroscience from the same institution.
