Adda Birnir has a strong background in web design, development, and multimedia content production. Adda co-founded Skillcrush in 2012 and continues to serve as the Founder and CEO. Skillcrush is an online coding and UI/UX design school focused on providing opportunities for women, people of color, and mid-to-late career changers in the tech industry. Under Birnir's leadership, the company has achieved organic growth, minimal funding, and positive cash flow, helping over 20,000 career changers upskill into higher paying and more fulfilling roles in tech. Prior to Skillcrush, Birnir worked as a Partner at Balance Media LLC, specializing in web design, development, and user experience. Adda also served as a Collective Member at Paper Tiger TV, an Associate Producer at MTV Networks, and a Multimedia Content Producer and Photo Editor at Flavorpill, where they oversaw the production and management of visual content for online arts and culture magazines. Overall, Birnir's work experience showcases their expertise in tech education, web design, development, and multimedia content production.

Adda Birnir attended Yale University from 2003 to 2007, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree. Adda'sfield of study at Yale University was Fine Art, with a focus on Photography, as well as African American Studies. In addition to their formal education, Adda Birnir has obtained certifications in various areas. In 2016, they became a Certified Scrum Master (CSM) through the Scrum Alliance. Adda also obtained a WordPress certification in 2015 from Skillcrush.
