SPHR, Senior Professional in Human Resources
The Director of Human Resources oversees all HR functions for the park district. Gualano serves as a liaison between management and employees to address concerns, mediate conflicts, and promote a positive workplace culture. She manages the hiring process for full-time staff, which includes creating and posting job descriptions, conducting interviews, and coordinating new hire onboarding. Additional key responsibilities include managing compensation, providing employee benefits, overseeing payroll, and updating the park district's policies and procedures as outlined in the Personnel Policy Manual.
Outside of her professional role, Gualano enjoys golfing, exploring breweries, and spending time with her family. With a competitive spirit, she achieved a high game of 235 in bowling and qualified for the state tournament at just 11 years old. She is also a devoted fan of the Minnesota Vikings, proudly cheering #SKOL. In terms of music, she is a a huge Swiftie and says she was fortunate enough to experience the Eras tour, which was a dream come true. She also enjoys bands like Blink-182 and Mayday Parade, along with a love for country music.

The Skokie Park District takes pride in its ability to serve the more than 63,000 residents of Skokie, Illinois and its customers throughout Chicagoland. Whether protecting natural resources, preserving historical sites or providing thousands of unique recreational opportunities within its more than 240 acres of parkland, the district has offered a multitude of quality programs since 1928. In addition to its diverse array of programs and special events, the Skokie Park District also offers summer camps, state-licensed full-day childcare and preschool, and before- and after-school care for grades K-5. The district is a past winner of the “National Gold Medal for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management.”
