Nancy Kim Phillips

Nancy Kim Phillips is currently the Community Engagement Manager at Skokie Public Library. Nancy has a long and varied history of working in libraries and other public service organizations.

Nancy started their career in 1993 at Christopher House in management positions. Nancy then moved to Metropolitan Family Services in 1998 and became the Chief Operating Officer in 2004.

In 2012, Nancy took a position as Info Services Manager at Arlington Heights Memorial Library. Nancy led a department of 37 staff members and was responsible for providing innovative reference, advisory, and conference room services, as well as planning and delivering adult/all-ages programs and exhibits. Nancy implemented a new customer service model that included proactive roving reference, a call center for phone interactions, and online chat. Nancy also created a cohesive team from four previously separate groups.

In addition to their work at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library, Nancy also led the library-wide planning for the new One Book, One Village program, which was designed to foster a sense of community. Nancy created experiential staff recruitment processes and developed a comprehensive staff training program that included classroom, online, self-guided, shadowing, and video formats.

Nancy has been with Skokie Public Library since December 2015 and currently serves as the Community Engagement Manager. In this role, Nancy is responsible for leading community engagement initiatives that support the Library's mission and strategic plan.

Nancy Kim Phillips has a Masters in Library and Information Science from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, a Masters in Business Administration with a focus in finance and accounting from University of Chicago, and a B.S. in finance from Gies College of Business - University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
