Marya Kawmy has a diverse work experience spanning various organizations and roles. Marya is currently serving as the Director of Strategic Partnerships at Reading Is Fundamental since September 2021. Prior to this, Marya worked at Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, where they held multiple positions in Corporate Giving, including Director, Senior Manager, and Manager. During their tenure, they achieved impressive results, such as increasing the revenue of the annual spring fundraiser by 60% and the fall fundraiser by 30%. Marya also played a pivotal role in managing corporate pipelines, cultivating prospective donors, and creating a successful corporate partnership strategy that was vetted by top consulting firms. Before joining Boys & Girls Clubs, Marya worked at Safe Kids Worldwide as a Development Operations Lead. Marya also gained experience at The Boston Consulting Group as a Human Resources Assistant, Facilities Assistant, and Receptionist. Additionally, they contributed to the Homeless Children's Playtime Project as a Fundraising and Event Planning Member. Marya's early career includes a role as an Outdoor Site Director at the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington, where they demonstrated their strong leadership skills in managing staff and organizing activities for children.

Marya Kawmy received their Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Roanoke College, where they attended from 2006 to 2010.
