Kalpana Seshadrinathan

Head of Deep Learning at Skydio

Kalpana Seshadrinathan is the current Head of Deep Learning at Skydio. Prior to joining Skydio, Kalpana served as the Chief Technology Officer at ShortTok from December 2021 to October 2022. At ShortTok, Kalpana was responsible for presenting pitches to potential investors, customers and partners, developing the technology roadmap for multimodal analysis and understanding, CV, Natural Language Processing (NLP) and recommender systems, leading the design and technology team in the architecture, design and implementation of the product concept, and hiring and overseeing design and engineering.

Prior to their role at ShortTok, Kalpana served as a Sr. Computer Vision/Machine Learning Engineer at Apple from May 2019 to December 2021. In this role, Kalpana was responsible for designing and developing computer vision and machine learning algorithms that power consumer products.

Before their time at Apple, Kalpana served as an Engineering Manager at Intel Labs from April 2017 to May 2019. In this role, Kalpana managed a team of engineers who developed cutting-edge research in the areas of computer vision and machine learning.

Kalpana began their career as a Sr. Research Scientist at Intel Labs in June 2010, where they conducted research in the areas of computer vision and machine learning.

Kalpana Seshadrinathan has a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, and a B.Tech. in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering from College of Engineering Trivandrum. Kalpana also attended Sri Sankara Sr. Sec. School.
