Richard Scorer's work experience includes serving as the Head of Abuse Law & Public Inquiries at Slater and Gordon Lawyers (UK) since 2014. Richard also worked as a Partner & Board Member at Pannone from 1992 to 2014. Prior to that, they were an investment analyst at Scottish Amicable in 1989. Currently, they are an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Kent, where they are working on an AHRC-funded project on abuse in religious contexts.

Richard Scorer attended Raynes Park High School from 1980 to 1985. Richard then pursued their higher education at The University of Edinburgh, where they obtained an MA Hons degree in History from 1985 to 1989. During their time at university, they also had a brief period of study at the University of Pennsylvania in 1987-1988. Richard Scorer went on to obtain various certifications, including becoming a Fellow of The RSA (The royal society for arts, manufactures and commerce) in 2018, a Fellow of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) in 2005, and they became a Solicitor accredited by the Solicitors Regulation Authority in 1994.
