Philip Chan has a diverse work experience in engineering and research. Philip is currently working as a Sr. Process Development Engineer at KYOCERA SLD Laser since 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a Graduate Student Researcher at the University of California, Santa Barbara from 2016 to 2022, where they focused on projects related to III-nitride device design, simulation, growth, fabrication, and testing. Philip completed their dissertation on Strain-Relaxed InGaN Buffer Layers for Long Wavelength Nitride Devices during this time. Additionally, they gained experience as a Graduate Technical Intern at Northrop Grumman Corporation, Electronic Systems in 2015 and as an Intern/Coop at Rutgers University–New Brunswick from 2013 to 2015.
Philip Chan completed their education at UC Santa Barbara from 2015 to 2020, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in ECE, specializing in Electronics and Photonics. Prior to that, from 2011 to 2015, they attended Rutgers University and received a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
