Principal Mechanical Design Engineer at Sleep Number

Bruce Gaunt has over 25 years of experience in mechanical design engineering. Bruce started their career at GE as a Mechanical Designer and Systems Engineer, where they worked on CAD systems and assisted in developing an AI-based CAD interface system. Bruce then joined Zenith Electronics as a Mechanical Design Engineer, leading projects in the design and development of projection televisions and optic couplers for HDTVs. Bruce then moved to Snap-on Diagnostics, where they were the sole mechanical engineer responsible for product development of battery testers. At Product Development Technologies, they started and managed the engineering and business development activities for the Minnesota branch. Their role involved budgeting, sales, managing employees, and leading mechanical design projects. Currently, Bruce is a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer at Sleep Number Corporation. Bruce is heavily involved in new product development, manufacturing support, production quality, and field service of adjustable bed foundations. Bruce has also led a ground-up redesign project and implemented new technologies into sleep products.

Bruce Gaunt obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Valparaiso University, where they studied from 1990 to 1995. In 2006, they attended Anoka-Ramsey Community College for a short period, focusing on Medical Device Design. The specific degree earned during this time is not provided.
