John Matthews

John Matthews is an experienced professional in environmental consultancy, currently serving as the Technical Discipline Manager for the European Land Quality & Remediation Group at SLR Consulting since March 2005. With a comprehensive background, John has held various significant roles, including Technical Director, where management of the Shrewsbury office's multidisciplinary specialists was key. Previously, John was the Principal Regional Manager for the Midlands Land Quality Team, focusing on environmental assessments related to petrol filling stations and fuel storage. Earlier career highlights include positions at GeoDelft Environmental Ltd as a Principal overseeing environmental assessments for a major oil company, and at Enviros as a Senior Consultant managing projects for industrial clients and government departments. John commenced the career as a Geotechnical Engineer, initially with Exploration Associates and then with Scott Wilson, managing site investigations and geotechnical design. John holds a BSc in Engineering Geology from the University of Portsmouth, which was obtained from 1984 to 1987.
