Michael Villa

Michael Villa has a diverse work experience starting from 2007. Michael worked as an intern at the European Parliament in 2007, providing support to a MEP attending Foreign Affairs Committee meetings and assisting with a Presidential electoral campaign. From 2009 to 2010, they interned at the Italian Embassy in Copenhagen, Denmark, where they supported diplomatic corps and participated in EU-related duties. In 2010, they served as an EU Affairs Advisor for the local authority in the Province of Lodi, providing guidance on European initiatives and programs. From 2011 to 2018, they worked as a Senior Consultant in EU/Middle East public affairs at Business Solutions Europa, where they supported various clients in energy efficiency and sustainable energy sectors. From 2012 to 2018, they also worked as a Policy Advisor at the European Alliance to Save Energy (EU-ASE), developing advocacy plans, building relationships with stakeholders, and organizing high-level conferences. Since 2018, they have been with smartEn Smart Energy Europe, where they have held roles such as Senior Policy Advisor, Head of Policy, and currently serves as the Executive Director. In this role, they are responsible for coordinating committees, leading policy deep dive working groups, and representing smartEn in various organizations and campaigns.

Michael Villa obtained a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and International Relations, with a cumulative grade of 110 cum laude, from Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in 2008. Michael later pursued a Master's degree in European Studies from Institute for European Studies, ULB (IEE-ULB) between 2008 and 2010.
