Brandon Smetak

Brandon Smetak, CPA has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Brandon began their career as an Assurance Intern at EY in 2007 and then transitioned to Fresh Start Bakeries, Inc. as an Accounts Payable & Assistant to Chief Engineer in 2006. In 2008, Brandon returned to EY as an Assurance Senior Manager, specializing in Media & Entertainment, Retail, Consumer Products, and Technology. Brandon managed high-performing teams and served both publicly traded global clients and mid-size pre-IPO clients.

Brandon then joined Smart & Final in 2017, initially as the Director of Financial Planning & Reporting and later taking on roles of increasing responsibility, including Vice President, Financial Reporting & Accounting, Vice President, Corporate Finance, and Vice President & Controller. In these roles, they oversaw primary accounting operations, directed period-end close, financial reporting, budgeting/forecasting, internal controls, and technical accounting matters.

Most recently, in 2022, Brandon joined Chedraui USA as the Vice President & Controller for Smart & Final, responsible for all primary accounting operations.

Brandon Smetak, CPA completed their education with a Bachelor of Accounting from the University of Southern California (USC) in 2008. Brandon also obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Finance from USC Marshall School of Business during the same period. Prior to their university studies, they attended La Habra High School from 2000 to 2004. In addition to their academic achievements, Brandon obtained a Certified Public Accountant license from the California Board of Accountancy in 2011 and a Master Captain - 50 Ton Vessels certification from the U.S. Coast Guard in 2019.
