Cofounder, Chief Data Scientist at SmarterHQ

Dean Abbott is the cofounder and Chief Data Scientist of SmarterHQ, a retail email marketing platform that uses analytics and machine learning. Dean has been with SmarterHQ since its inception in 2009, and they took on the role of CTO in 2016.

Under Dean's leadership, SmarterHQ has grown to serve over 100 clients, including Bloomingdales, Sam's Club, American Eagle, DSW, Dillards, Chicos, Omni Hotels, and Barnes & Noble. The SmarterHQ platform has increased open rates by 50% and click-through rates by 80% for its clients.

In addition to their work with SmarterHQ, Dean has also served as an interim CTO for other companies. Dean is experienced in leading teams of developers, SREs, and data scientists, and they have overseen successful back-end transitions from MongoDB+SQL Server to AWS (Kinesis, SQS, S3, Redshift). Dean has also obtained SOC 2, Type 2 certification and made SmarterHQ compliant with GDPR regulations.
