Maya Carrillo has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Maya started their career as a Conservation Education Intern at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center in July 2014 and concluded the role in December 2014. In 2015, they joined Austin Nature & Science Center as a Lead Counselor from April to September. In the same year, they also started working at Smarter Sorting, where they held multiple positions. Maya began as an Environmental Intern in December 2015 and transitioned to an Operations Specialist from March 2016 to March 2018. Maya then served as a Product Owner from April 2018 to September 2021 at the same company. Currently, they are working as a Technical Project Manager at Smarter Sorting, a role they started in October 2021.
Maya Carrillo attended Rice University from 2009 to 2013. Maya obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology as well as a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Rice University. In addition, in October 2013, Maya Carrillo obtained a certification in CPR and First Aid from the American Heart Association.
