VP Innovation at SmartMedia Technologies

Mark Cundle has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Mark is currently serving as the VP Innovation at SmartMedia Labs since June 2022. Prior to this, Mark founded Austella, a startup focused on developing Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) applications, where they held the role of Founder & CEO since February 2015. Austella had two business areas, self-published apps/games and development/consultancy services for corporate clients.

Before Austella, Mark worked as the Technical Director at HJ Sales & Marketing from April 2015 to March 2018. HJ S&M is a specialist business development company with blue chip clients in the semiconductor, passive, and display markets. Mark'sresponsibilities included driving additional revenue, managing distribution channels, and overseeing tier 1 industrial customers.

From 2009 to 2015, Mark was associated with RS Components, first as the Technical Marketing Manager and later as the Head of Technical Marketing. Mark led the expansion of the Technical Marketing division, defined and implemented engineering contact awareness and acquisition strategies, and launched various initiatives to drive customer awareness and retention.

In their earlier roles, Mark served as the Technical Manager at Abacus Polar from 1999 to 2009, managing the semiconductor FAE team and developing marketing strategies. Mark also worked as a Technician at DERA in 1999.

Overall, Mark Cundle has held key leadership positions and demonstrated expertise in innovation, VR/AR development, technical marketing, and business development within the semiconductor industry.

Mark Cundle earned a Bachelor's degree in Physics from the University of Warwick, where they studied from 1995 to 1998. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Microwave Communications at the University of Portsmouth, which they completed between 1998 and 1999.
