Philip Cootey has a diverse range of work experience in various roles and industries. Starting in 2004, they began their career as an Application Developer at Bingham McCutchen LLP, where they developed n-tier web-based applications using Microsoft .NET. Philip then moved on to work as a Sr. Software Engineer at Greenfield Online, where they created a SOAP API and Web Console for tracing activity of Survey candidate profiles.
In 2007, Philip joined ITG as a Sr. Software Engineer, focusing on .NET SOA/EDA EMS platform and WinForm UI Framework Software Engineering. Philip worked on design patterns, IoC, MVC, and Messaging.
From 2010 to 2015, Philip served as an Enterprise Systems Architect at EBSCO Information Services. In this role, they led strategic initiatives and drove standardization of approaches and best practices across the organization.
In 2012, Philip founded Forager Networks, Inc., a telecommunications company specializing in broadband voice and streaming continuity. Philip partnered with OpenVPN and IPVanish and led an offshore team for Android development. Notably, the company was a research partner of British Telecom Innovation Group and won the 2015 Wireless Broadband Alliance Startup Pitch.
Philip worked as a Sr. IoT Platform Architect at Schneider Electric from 2016 to 2018. In this role, they focused on data management and analytics on the EcoStruxure platform, driving data-driven business value and new business models.
From 2018 to 2019, Philip served as a Sr. Staff Software Architect at AiRXOS, an aviation startup that was later acquired by GE Aviation. Philip managed software/project teams and provided architectural guidance, consulting, and execution of the product roadmap.
In 2019, Philip joined DraftKings Inc. as a Sr. Software Manager, overseeing a large software engineering team and driving software solutions to completion.
Most recently, Philip has been working at SmartSense by Digi since 2020. As the Head of Data Management, they lead a growing data division and facilitates the creation and distribution of innovative data products. Philip is responsible for maturing SmartSense IoT data and analytics and is involved in implementation, data operations, mergers, and acquisitions.
Philip Cootey pursued their education in a sequential manner, starting in 1994. Philip attended the University of Massachusetts Lowell from 1994 to 1998, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree. During their time at the university, they majored in Music and minored in Philosophy. Subsequently, from 1998 to 2008, Cootey enrolled at UMass Boston where they completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science. Finally, from 2010 to 2016, they attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute and obtained a Master of Science degree in Computer Science.
