Melanie Penoyar-Perez

Melanie Penoyar-Perez, CAE has extensive work experience in various roles within different organizations. Melanie started their career in 1999 as the Director of Marketing & Business Development at the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS), where they worked until 2004. Melanie then joined the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International as the Director of Development from 2004 to 2007. Following this, they joined the American Water Works Association as the Sr. Manager of Membership from 2007 to 2017. Currently, Melanie is working at the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration Inc. (SME) as the Director of Operations since 2017, with their most recent role being promoted to Chief Operating Officer in November 2019.

Melanie Penoyar-Perez, CAE obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Communication and Media Studies from George Mason University between 1990 and 1995. Melanie is currently pursuing an Executive MBA in Business Administration and Management from the University of Colorado Denver, which they are expected to complete between 2022 and 2024. Additionally, they hold the certification of Certified Association Executive (CAE) from ASAE: The Center for Association Leadership, which they obtained in December 2006.
