Jonna Jones has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Jonna started their career as a Graphic Designer at Ruttle Graphics, where they worked on commercial pieces for Warner Brothers and corporate promotional items for Harris Corporation. Jonna then moved on to Triton Network Systems, Inc. as a Creative Manager, overseeing company branding and message. After that, Jonna worked as a Graphic Designer at Glatting Jackson Kercher Anglin Lopez Rinehart, Inc, where they introduced the idea of a quality control position for documentation. Jonna also had their own business, Jonna Jones Creative Solutions, where they offered writing, editing, and design services. Later, they joined Cornell Maritime Press/Tidewater Publishers as a Managing Editor, responsible for the entire life cycle of book publication. Jonna also worked at Barefoot Wellness as a Yoga Teacher and Flying Frog Fitness as a Studio Owner and Instructor. Currently, they are the Managing Director of Corporate Communications at SMECO.

Jonna Jones completed their education at the University of Mississippi from 1992 to 1996, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Journalism. Additionally, they have obtained several certifications in the field of yoga. In 2016, they received the E-RYT 200 certification from the Yoga Alliance. More recently, in August 2022, they obtained two additional certifications: RCYT and YACEP, both from the Yoga Alliance.

SMECO

Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative was founded in 1937. Through the Rural Electrification Administration, the co-op received a loan of $165,000 to construct 175 miles of line to serve 600 customer-members. SMECO operated a generating plant at Popes Creek, Maryland, from 1938 to 1953. SMECO has had five general managers: 1938, Forrest Coakley; 1974, Walter H. Smith; 1989, I. Wayne Swann; 2003, Austin J. Slater, Jr.; and 2020, Sonja Cox. As of January 2020, SMECO served 165,000 customers and is one of the largest electric co-ops in the country. SMECO serves all of Charles and St. Mary's counties, the southern portion of Prince George's County, and all but the northeast portion of Calvert County.
