Dr. Anthony Smith, C.Eng., F.I.Mech.E., Ph.D. (Engineering)

Dr. Anthony Smith, C.Eng., F.I.Mech.E., Ph.D. (Engineering) has extensive experience in the engineering field. Since 2019, they have been the Deputy Project Manager for Smith Consulting. From 2016 to 2019, they were a Part-time, Co-Team Leader for Mott MacDonald, working on short-term climate change mitigation assignments in Eastern Europe and Asia in response to “Call-offs” initiated by EBRD, London. From 2014 to 2016, they were an EU Grant Proposal Evaluator for MWH Global. From 2011 to 2014, they were a Team Leader for LOUIS BERGER INTERNATIONAL, providing support to the EU's "Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance". From 2010 to 2011, they were a JASPERS Expert for the European Investment Bank, providing short-term technical support to the JASPER's Solid Waste Management Team in Romania. From 2009 to 2010, they were a Team Leader for Grontmij Group, working on the EU-funded project "Preparation of Environmental Projects in the Waste sector to be implemented under the EU's "Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance". From 2007 to 2009, they were a Project Manager for Hill International, Inc., working on the Libyan Government funded "Al Birdi Coastal Tourism Development Project". From 2005 to 2007, they were a Team Leader for Hill International, Inc., working on the EU-funded project "Technical Assistance to support the implementation of infrastructure / investment projects under the EU's Economic and Social Cohesion Programmes". In 2005, they were a Lead Environmentalist for SAFEGE, working on the EBRD project to rehabilitate some of the worst road accident “blackspots”. Dr. Anthony was also a Team Leader for AGRIFOR Consult, Belgium, working on the “Technical assistance for the preparation of the ISPA project documents of the North Balaton Area regional municipal waste management ISPA project documents for the year 2002 located in the Republic of Hungary”.

Dr. Anthony Smith, C.Eng., F.I.Mech.E., Ph.D. (Engineering) obtained an Associate's Degree in Management and Leadership from the Chartered Management Institute in 2014. In 1978, they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Engineering (with one patent filed) from the University of London. Dr. Anthony also earned a Master's Degree in Engineering and Project Management from Imperial College London in 1976. Dr. Smith's educational background began with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Economics from Imperial College London in 1972. In 2017, they obtained certifications in Learning PRINCE2 and Project Management Foundations from LinkedIn.
