John D. Ostergren

John D. Ostergren joined Smiths in January 2022 as Chief Sustainability Officer. John is an environmental scientist and lawyer with more than 20 years of experience delivering value through Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) performance and sustainability leadership. Prior to joining Smiths, John had a progressive career at 3M, including serving as the company’s Global EHS Director, following time spent focusing on EHS issues at law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP. John served most recently as Senior Legal Director at Zymergen Inc., a leading bio-manufacturing start-up applying AI and robotics to develop high-performance materials and improve sustainability performance across multiple industry verticals.
